Swen Swenson born August 13 1869 on Williams farm Grand Meadow township Clayton county died February 9 at Postville hospital aged eighty five. He married Anna Javert February 27 1296 at Postville and lived on a farm east of Clermont forty five years. He leaves four children sixteen grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters, an aunt and many relatives. He retired to Clermont in 1941 and after golden wedding 1946 remained until illness led to hospital death. funeral attendance noted from distant relatives. card of thanks extends appreciation to caregivers and church members.
The General Assembly of Iowa enacts immediate validity for the Consolidated School District of Clermont Elgin bonds totaling 525000. The act confirms prior special election proceedings of November 29 1954 and permits issuance and tax levy to repay bonds, declaring them legal obligations of the district. Publication in Elgin Echo and Fayette County Union required.
