Missionary Union Hostess Event At Krueger Home

Mrs Metta Krueger hosted the Baptist Missionary Union meeting at her home with Mrs Lester Wenger and Mrs Lena Wenger as assisting hostesses. The program included responsive reading led by President Mrs Harry Johnson scripture by Rev Eldon Schroeder and contributions by several members. Cheer and birthday cards were sent to shut ins and a 99th birthday was noted for Mrs Harriet Jordan of Dubuque. Twenty members attended with three guests.

The Social Hour Club met at Mrs. Cleve Bennett’s home on Wednesday February 8 with 15 members answering roll call by a Valentine verse. Mrs. Louis Becker Jr joined. new program books were handed out. guests included Mrs. Carol Wilson Mrs. Will Kerr Mrs. Roger Howard and Pearl Peters. Krueger Nydegger Wedding At First Baptist Elgin

The Krueger Nydegger wedding took place at 6 p.m. Sunday February 4 at First Baptist Church Elgin with Barbara Krueger and Kent Eugene Nydegger as the couple. Rev Eldon Schroeder officiated the double ring ceremony. Carlton Kmieger sang Oh Promise Me and Wedding Prayer with Mrs Abe Habeger at the organ.

Wedding in blue net unites Elgin couple

The ceremony featured white dinner jackets and blue carnation corsages. Lavern Jacobson served as best man Gordon Jacobson was a groomsman and Allen Krueger and Stanley Ney were ushers. The bride and groom plan a honeymoon trip south to Missouri Illinois Kentucky Tennessee and Arkansas. The Nydegger couple are Valley and West Union high school graduates and, with farming ties to Elgin, start married life on a farm southwest of town.

Postville district votes on $450,000 school bond March 9

A special election in the Postville Community School district will be held March 9 to approve a 450000 bond for a new high school, an addition to the grade school, and extra land acquisition. The district already operates two buildings, one of them built recently. Hazelton reports a local firm sponsored bowling team won the women’s championship.

Forty Years of Service Honored Halls in Maynard

Mrs. Lee Wenger Brainard and Dr. C. C. Hall were honored at a Sunday open house marking forty years of medical service to the community. Dr. H. H. Wolf, Fayette County Medical Society president, praised the Halls for leading in church, school and civic affairs as they delivered many babies.

Prices received for Iowa farm products rose for some items while others fell in the month ending January 15. The mid January index stood at 236 percent of the 1910-14 base, up from 234 in December but down two points from January last year, with livestock and related items noted.

Animal index rose one per cent from December to January while the Poultry and Hag index gained two points. The Product index fell four tenths of a per cent in the same period. The January 15 Crop index stood one per cent higher than a month earlier.
