Advertising rates per line are six cents weekly minimum, ten cents per line for display ads, with a zero cent minimum if cash accompanies the order. Blind ads or inquiries incur a six cent weekly minimum. Memorial and In Memoriam cards priced at one dollar for up to ten lines, additional lines five cents. Resolutions of respect and obituary poetry follow regular ad rates.
Laura Margeris Mueller Biedermann born February 26 1898 in Garnaville Township Clayton County Iowa. She married John G Biedermann in 1917 and lived on farms before retiring to Main Street Volga City. She helped found St Paul Lutheran Church Volga City served as first Ladies Aid president and was Legion Auxiliary member. She died February 1 1962 from a heart attack at age 63. Survived by daughter Helen Leonhart four sons and 15 grandchildren. Funeral Monday at St Paul Lutheran Church Garnaville cemetery burial.
The Pleasant Point Study Club held its first 1962 meeting on January 16 at Mrs. Harry Feller’s home. Members brought sack lunches for dinner and spent the day making handbags from rubber foam. A business session followed in the afternoon.
Mrs Harold Strong outlined the year program for the Our Home club. Feb 13 afternoon meeting hosted by Mrs Allan Habeger included guests Mrs Emma Holzer Mrs Dave Dewson Mrs Veryl Coffin and Mrs Reynold Strong. Mrs John Grimm spoke on Abraham Lincoln and the Lincoln family. Florida sewing method shown. next meeting March 13 at Lou Dennler with flower making project.
Mrs Vernon Wede and Mrs Arden Greener hosted a pink and blue shower for Mrs Gary Hyde of Monona at St Pauls Methodist Church on Saturday evening February 17. Readings by Mrs Richard Frieden and contests provided entertainment. Guests included Mrs Woodrow Hyde Mrs La Verne Hyde and several other attendees from Clermont Springville West Union and nearby areas.
Mrs. Margit Olson born October 9 1894 in Norway dies February 10 aged 79 in Postville Memorial Hospital. Survived by four sons, one daughter, fifteen grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Funeral Tuesday February 13 at Marion Church with burial in Marion Cemetery.
The Farm Bureau Home Makers met on February 16 with Mrs. Harry Feller leading nine members present. Nesting was called to order by Mrs. Lyle Kashenschm. Minutes from the Fayette board meeting and the last meeting were read by Mrs. Ed Gernand. Mrs. J. O. Probert gave disease notes on farm animals and Mrs. Reynold Strong spoke on education in Australia.
The annual women’s day event was discussed and held at the Wadena library on March 16. The program covered the ABC of Farm and focused on betterment, beliefs, and guidance from local organizers.
Mr and Mrs Richard Frie den attended the Iowa Farm Bureau Young Member Conference at the state 4 H Camp. The event gathered young members for sessions on farming practices, leadership, and community engagement.
