Elgin Teens Urge Local Recreation Center Drive

Open forum letters from Elgin area teenagers urge community support for a new recreation center. They argue a center would keep youths from taverns and provide spaces for pool, dancing, table tennis, cards, and refreshments, asking for time money and patience.

Oyster supper hosts and weekend visits in Brainard

Mrs Bauman Dies After Long Life of Faith and Family

Caroline Bauman, widow of John Bauman, died January 23 1950 in Grand Junction Colorado after pneumonia and complications. Born 1864 in Munsingen Switzerland she lived in Elgin Iowa Lakin Kansas Palisade Colorado Madison and Grand Junction. Surviving are three daughters and five sons, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral January 26 at First Baptist Church Grand Junction with Rev. Day Russell and McGlathlan officiating. Burial Municipal Cemetery Iowa State College entomologists warn to inspect stored grain for insect damage.
