Minnie Effie Baldwin remembered as devoted Iowa matron
Minnie Effie Baldwin born Sept 13 1867 in Illyria township daughter of Charlies W Strong and Elvina Talcott Strong married Marion Baldwin on Nov 3 1888. The couple farmed near Illyria Maynard and Hazelton traveled to the 1915 San Francisco Exposition before settling in Cedar Falls and Hazelton. She was active in the WCTU and First Presbyterian Church. She died Jan 24 1960 at the Western Old People’s Home after a hobby of making 1200 toy horses from inner tubes. Surviving relatives include sister in law Amelia Strong two nieces two nephews and friend Ray Anderson.
