The Elgin Echo Dial announces its entry as second-class mail matter at the Elgin post office in Fayette County Iowa under the 1852 act, dated September 1 1891.
A 1925 Echo-Tofield Lehman feature recalls a 33 year bee business with 175 swarms producing 6000 pounds of honey, mainly shipped to Cincinnati. Local visits include Alfred Walterson and son from Litchfield and Mrs Hertha Mealey from Oelwein. County supervisors propose lime stone at cost using a No 12 pulverizer, labor from county jail inmates. Blackbird sighting at West Union and Fred Hanson’s move to Los Angeles. Weather shifted from deep freeze to milder.

Fayette County Iowa Board met October 18 1950 in West Union. Approved a B beer permit for Eine Dortt and George Howera in Putnam township. Authorized hearing on Chicago Great Western Railway Company road vacation with final hearing set December 21 1960 at 10 a.m. in the courthouse. Claims totaling 1 809.30 were audited and warrants directed for payment including Inter-State Power Co Iowa Oil Co and others.
Notice to stockholders of Elgin State Bank Elgin Iowa calls a special meeting at the bank office on January 15 1961 at 10 a m to adopt renewed amended and substituted Articles of Incorporation signed December 13 1950 by bank officials and directors.
Elgin residents Mrs Emma Olson and Ruth and Nora Olson of Detroit visited West Union with Mr and Mrs Ed Bander and with John Longmuir from Elgin and Parkersburg guests. The George Anderson family from Parkersburg joined Sunday night and Monday. Supper guests included Mr and Mrs John Falb and JE L Morris family. Estella Feller also joined Friday.
Mrs Blaiiche Waterbury and guests visited the Albert Halver ton home while upper guests Tuesday included Jim Fricke Elkatier and Louis Halverson. Numerous relatives joined dinners and Sunday visits across Cedar Rapids Sumner Volga and Volga area homes including the Schupbachs Lehman Upbach Olsen and Grimmer families with Christmas gatherings noted.
Mr and Mrs Fred Muehlethaler hosted a Christmas dinner. Guests included Thos Gorgas and his Waterloo family, Mrs Mary Keiser and her family, Clar Muehlethaler, and others.
