Funeral services for Joseph Stepanek of Woodstock Minnesota were held November 28 at the Catholic church in Woodstock with burial in the local Catholic cemetery. Born November 21 1890 at Traer he moved with his family to Elgin and later Woodstock. He lived in Cedar Rapids before returning to farm near Woodstock where he died of a heart attack November 25. He served on the Rock township board for 24 years and as triple A committeeman since 1933 and treasurer of his school district. Survived by widow two sons Frank and Joseph a daughter Catherine one grandchild a brother Adolph Stepanek of San Jose California and several half-siblings. Relatives from many towns attended the funeral.
Six year old Dennis Severson of Forest City was rushed to Mason City Hospital with symptoms of meningitis. Diagnosis confirmed tonsillitis as the illness.
