Levi Frieden son of Benjamin and Leah Schneider Frieden was born April 13 1897 on a Clayton County farm. He married Alta Dennler on December 5 1928 at Elkader and they had seven children Eileen Raymond Loren Mavis LeAnna Roger and a daughter who died in infancy. He lived on the Marion Township farm for nearly a century before moving to Elgin in 1997. Frieden suffered a heart attack on November 23 and was taken to West Union Hospital.
Obituary notes the death of a St. Pauls Methodist Church member and longtime steward on the official board. Survived by wife, three daughters and four sons, 16 grandchildren, and many relatives. Memorial service held December 7 at St. Pauls with Rev. Lee Roy Collins. burial in Elgin Cemetery.
