Illyria Clipperettes 4 H club met with 30 members present. The group opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Mary Ann Metzger spoke on duties of 4 H members. Roll call and secretary’s report followed.
Demonstrations were siren by Jeri Martin and Gail Light on plaques and Ricky Cook and Iva Feller on Have Drawers, Will Divide. We opened our gifts and told what they were and who.
The P.V. Sharp Shooters club held a December meeting on December 9 with a Christmas party. Gayle Kieppe, Sharon Ruckdeshel, Roger Heeder, and McMillian earned one year gate sign completions, Diana Reeder two years with a pencil, James Prieden five years with a certificate and seal. Every member received a 4-H pin and lunch was served by Mrs. Frieden. Members then watched Ma and Pa Kettle and visited a dairy for a post show treat.
The Pleasant Valley Homemakers Club met at the home of Mrs Kenneth Blockhus on Friday December 10 with eighteen members and eight guests in attendance.
Out of town guests included Mrs Margar et Broghammer of West Union and Mrs Edward Fehihafer of Marshalltown. Local attendees listed Ed Isoleyn Bertha Lebrme Mary Allen Kathryn Brabham Leon Shepard Sandra Deex DeSart and Kimberly.
Elgin Study Club met last Tuesday with Mrs Belva Snyder hosting and Mrs Martin Wenger assisting. A Christmas program featured Mrs Snyder’s inspirational reading and a roll call of Christmas poems. Present were Mrs Walter Falk and Mrs Medbert Baechler as speakers.

For workers the rate rises to 3 1/8 percent and 2m increase of 1 percent. for self employed the rate becomes 7.5 percent. An employed earner with 4800 in 1962 pays about 150 in tax versus 146 in 1961. With 52 checks totaling 4800, roughly 12 cents more is withheld per check and employers tax increases by about 12 cents weekly. A self employed person earning up to 4200 pays 225.50 versus 216 for the year, about 79 cents more per month.
