Tragic drownings claim two youths in Iowa towns

Three year old Gary Wrench of St Ansgar drowned after he fell into an old three foot deep butter milk tank. In West Branch four year old Edward Furchtenecht died while swimming in an abandoned cistern. his body was found when his mother located his clothing at the cistern edge.

Blockhus Brandt Wedding at East Clermont Church

Verna Lois Blockhus wed Ernest W. Brandt in a double ring ceremony at East Clermont Lutheran church with Rev. A O Nesset presiding. The event followed by a 230-guest reception. outfits featured nylon and lace gowns, yellow white and orchid flowers, and a four tier cake. The couple, from Decorah and Waverly, plan residence in Waverly after Sept. 4, with Blockhus teaching at N W Bell and Brandt working as a station engineer.

Oak Grove School Sold to Elgin Ladies Aid Society

The Elgin Lutheran Ladies Aid Society bought the Oak Grove school building at private sale for 900 dollars. The 24 by 32 structure is in excellent condition and will be moved to Elgin this fall near the Copper Hatchery on Franklin Street.

Dr H A Lindblom of Armstrong pulled off a side road to deliver a baby boy weighing 5 pounds 11 ounces for patient Mrs Earl Wegner on the way to a hospital. The pair then continued to the hospital.
