Miss Bonna Irene Bishop of West Union and Leroy M Gehring of Fairbank were married in a double ring ceremony at Bethel Presbyterian Church Sunday evening August 13 conducted by Rev A G Ukena. The bride, daughter of Clifford and Mrs Bishop, was attended by her twin sister Mrs Marvin Buckholz as matron of honor. Marian and Ruth Gehring were bridesmaids with Lowell Gehring as best man and Uriel Gehring and Louis Halverson as groomsmen. Wayne Larson and Clarence Bishop were ushers. The bride, a West Union high school graduate, plans to teach rural school. The groom attended Elgin high school, served seven months in the Army, and works as a mechanic at Falb Light. They will reside in the home once occupied by Mrs Selma Schneider.
Goodin daughter Mary Catherine and Leon Dennier united in marriage at St. Joseph's Elkader on August 17. Father Bernard H. Skahill officiated. Attendants included Virginia Goodin and Warren Goodin. Bride wore navy blue taffeta. carnations featured. groom in gray. They will reside near Elgin. a wedding dance followed at the Elgin ballroom.
Accidents on country roads are rising while Iowa campaigns from Aug 22 to Sept 6 urge farmers to slow down. Tractor and farm implement lights must be visible from 500 feet and front white and rear red lights are required at night. Drivers need a license to operate on public roads unless moving between farm buildings or fields.

Miss Christel Emilie Adix daughter of Mr and Mrs C C Adix Alden Minnesota was invited in marriage to Alfred Jacob Jr son of Mr and Mrs A B Jacob at Mansfield Lutheran Church on Sunday August 13 The Rev Paul Adix brother of the bride performed the ceremony by candlelight The church was decorated with candelabra and gladioli About 200 friends attended The bride wore white satin with Chantilly lace and a circular court train The veil was fingertip length with a beaded tiara The bridal party included Matron of honor Mrs Martin Elvebak bridesmaids Mrs Robt Dieseth and Mrs Carl Adix jr The flower girl Kathleen Adix The best man was Leon L Jacob with ushers Lloyd Jacob and Carl Adix jr A reception followed with about 100 in the church parlors The couple left for Glacier National Park and will reside in Dows August 23 where he will teach Mrs Jacob has been a parish worker at La Crosse She is Luther College graduate 1949 Mr Jacob also Luther College graduate with graduate work at University of Iowa Local families and relatives are listed including Jacob Schaer Schroe der Krueger Habeger Light and Jennings and the Bauman and Lloyd Jacob families
Donald Fisher, 17, dived from a 10 foot embankment into about three feet of water at the Iowa river and suffered a broken neck. He was rushed to a Cedar Rapids hospital where the spinal cord injury was graded as severe and his condition listed as critical.
A low fuel landing ended with a Swift plane refueling from a highway gas station near Harlan Airport. The pilot and passenger pushed the aircraft to clear a lane as patrols cleared traffic, then resumed takeoff. The report notes city obstacles and a fuel handoff at the scene.
A traffic violation near Broom field led to a highway patrol stop. The husband, leaving home forever, ran a stop sign and was arrested, but the officer, sensing emotional tension, drove him back home to fetch his driver's license. While the search continued, the husband and wife reconciled.
