Illyria Cattle Exhibit and Community Notices Gather Attention
Otis Rothlisberger left for Elkader Fair to exhibit cattle and sheep. Neighbors and relatives from Rock Rapids to West Union gathered for visits, picnics, and church events. Several families attended Ringling Circus in Waterloo, help with sales for an Old People’s Home in Cedar Falls, and community activities including an ice cream social and program at the local church. Weathered by a lightning loss to a horse, these small town ties reflect a bustling period of social visits and family news across multiple nearby towns.

Community Picnic Draws Large West Union Crowd
Aid picnic at West Union fair grounds drew a largely attended gathering last Wednesday. Next month, plans include a meeting with Mrs. Alton Medberry. Several residents visited or hosted friends from nearby areas, including Cheery Valley and Elgin, with numerous social calls and visits noted. The city water tank steeple jacks completed cleaning and painting inside the tank after a two day job, requiring a 48 hour water shutoff.
