Ole E Olson son of Tov H Olson and Sigr Mork Olson born April 2 1879 near Elgin died at Postville hospital on Monday night August 8 aged 78. Survived by widow five children twelve grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral Thursday August 11 at Marian Lutheran Church with burial in Marian cemetery. Alma Groth Erickson born May 19 1900 in Elgin died July 18 in Crookston Minn aged 55 She married Albert Erickson May 27 1922 and moved to Erskine Minn in 1929 She was Lutheran and member of Gosen congregation services were held July 23 with burial Rev Casper Felstad officiating Survived by husband one son Alton four grandchildren two brothers Selmer Groth Elgin and Arthur Groth Concord Calif Preceded in death by (text cut)

Sunday school at 10 15 a m and worship at 11 15 a m with hope to welcome former members for the Elgin homecoming. A Monday picnic honored visitors from Hutchinson Kansas and Albert Kansas. Families and friends from Ottumwa Elma Grays Lakes Arlington Des Moines and Garnaville appear in various social visits and weekend gatherings.

Harold and Mrs. Opland returned from a vacation near Virginia, Minnesota, and stayed with Warren Burström in Mt. Morris, Illinois.
John Cornish of Coon Rapids an auto salesman was called to translate for a Russian delegation visiting Iowa. He served in Army intelligence during the war and spent a year studying Russian.
