Busy Bees 4-H Club Meets at Groth Home
Marion Busy Bees 4 H Club held a regular meeting at Ardis and Verna Groth’s home on Thursday evening August 10. Seven members named foods they dislike and pledged to overcome them by year end. Leader and five visitors attended. Demonstrations on plain muffins followed the study topic Quick Breads. The group rehearsed a play for a Center school house performance scheduled for Thursday evening. Refreshments were provided by the hostesses. Next meeting will be at Donna Gilbertson’s home.

Easy Catch Ends Long Carp Chase on Cedar River
George Peacock and Frank Sourak landed eight carp by pulling in their line after a single cast. Earlier a boy fishing in Cedar Rapids lost his stringer with the same eight fish. The carp swam about five miles downstream and remained alive when recaptured.
