The Marion Happy Hustlers 4 H Club met Monday evening April 17 at Gary and Steven Kittelson home. Eight members attended and the first spring flower was noted. Paul Amundson was chosen as club delegate to the Ames short course. Jack DeWolf presented slides on soil formation, the club’s annual special activity. Lunch was served by Mrs. Clarence Kittelson.
A special meeting at Valley High School included members Gordon Mosby Lester Wenger G W Alderson Arthur Amundson and Donald Lamborn with four parents present. Alderson moved to offer Corrine Rypestol a contract to teach music in Clermont Elgin and Wadena grade schools. Motion carried and contracts were approved.
The board reviews connecting the school-owned dwelling to the sewer and seeks bids. A motion by Donald Lamborn and G W Alderson hires two more teachers at Wadena to equalize grades kindergarten through six. Seventh and eighth graders from Wadena would attend Clermont Junior High. Elgin pupils may transfer to Wadena to balance sizes, plan to be discussed further. The motion passed 3–1.
Elgin Auxiliary unit met in the Auxiliary rooms on April 11 at 2 pm. Nineteen members answered roll call. Committee reports covered the banquet Saturday night, with plans for a silent auction and guest day at the May meeting. Derry.

The Woman's Society of Christian Service at St Paul’s Methodist Church will gather Thursday evening for a mother-daughter picnic supper at 6 30. Hostesses include Mrs Jacob Friederich Jr Mrs Harry L Cline and Mrs Laurence Knudison. Mrs Robert Steele of Dubuque will lead the lesson. Bring a covered dish sandwiches dishes and silver. If no daughter attend bring a non member’s daughter.
Elgin Lutheran Church Women opened with Hymn No. 28 Lord Teach Us How To Pray Aright led by Mr. Dennis Lane Program chairman. Devotions from Luke 6 27 and Lesson IV How Shall I Pray When Others Fail Me. Memory verse Luke 6 27 28. Mrs Mathieus sang Bless Thou O Lord This Day. Guests welcomed.
