County Scholarships Awarded To N P Hubbard Trio
Mrs Delores Noyn and Mrs Clara Wilson of New Providence and John Weld of Hubbard received Hardin Soil Conservation District Pine Lake Wildlife Club scholarships for the Iowa Teachers Conservation Camp at Springbrook Park near Guthrie Center. Wilson is a New Providence teacher. Horn, another New Providence teacher, and Weld are also awardees. One additional Wildlife Club scholarship remains. Camp runs in three sessions starting June, June 26, and July 17, offering three semester hours. The camp combines college coursework with field instruction from experts from state and federal agencies. The 27 acre lake provides fishing swimming and boating as part of the summer school atmosphere.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon from the Whitten Methodist Church for Frank Arnold, 86-year-old longtime resident of the area, who passed away at his farm home southwest of Whitten. He had lived on the farm the last 30 years. Burial was in Benson Cemetery near Whitten. Pallbearers were Larry White, Blaine Bernard, Welden Snider, Tom Moore, Dwight Long and George Clemons. Farmer Crushed in Tractor Accident Near Town Falls
Louis Powgnas, 50, suffered a fractured left leg when his tractor overturned backward on a slope three miles east of Town Falls Friday around 1:16 p.m. Neighbor Mrs. Dale Case heard his cries and summoned help. Powgnas was taken to the Iowa Falls hospital for treatment.

Two Iowa Falls Youths Injured in Head On Crash
Two Iowa Falls youths Jerry Price 18 and Virginia Bish 16 suffered serious injuries in a Friday head on crash with a gravel GMC truck north of Alden. Driver Lloyd Hurd of Popejoy was uninjured. Miss Bish fractured skull and jaw, Price had a double jaw fracture and broken left leg. They were hospitalized first at Town Falls then University of Iowa City. Hardin County announces the May 20 deadline for placing 1950 crop corn under price support loan with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office.
