Eldora Class Day honors Luellie Zlesman valedictorian and Ruth Stein feldt salutatorian. Zlesman, daughter of Harold Zlesman, posted an 8.88 four year GPA. Stein feldt, daughter of Frank Steinfeldt, earned 3.75. Both plan to attend Tibwa State Teachers College Cedar Falls this fall. 56 Eldora seniors receive diplomas tonight. speaker is Iowa State University sociologist David Fulcomer. Three Eldora High School juniors Charles Creps Dave Palmiter and Bill Stonebraker were chosen to attend Boys State at Camp Dodge Des Moines June 5 to 11 Selection by American Legion Kiwanis and Rotary groups recognizes scholarship community standing and leadership potential They will join a government study program during the weeklong event at Eldora Class Day activities.

Eldora city asks residents without house numbers to obtain them at city hall following a Postal Department ruling requiring full addresses. Since reviving the numbering system and adding street signs, only about 25 percent of numbers have been purchased. Signs cost $1.25 each.

Services Today For Rev. Ragsdale
The Rev. Alva Ragsdale former pastor of Eldora Christian Church and chaplain at the Iowa State Training School for Boys died in Ashland Wisconsin. Funeral services are today May 24 at 2 pm with burial at the same location. The Ragsdales moved from Eldora to Ashland about a year ago to live with their daughter and her husband Mr and Mrs Leslie Church.

McDonald Car Recovered From Abandoned House
John McDonald's 1951 Ford stolen last week was found in a basement of an abandoned Eagle Grove house Saturday. Three Training School boys, Harry Larson 17 Belle Plaine Chris Kelling 17 Clarion and Douglas Preston 17 Oelwein, admitted to five car thefts including three in Buchanan county. They were held in Independence awaiting charges.

Death Notice for Ted Long of Whitten Area
Ted Long, 49, of near Whitten died Sunday morning at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo. Services are pending at Biersborn Funeral Home of Union. He farmed near Whitten with his brother Max and father Walter, who survive along with another brother Nell of Denver and a sister Ursula of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Lowls Ty.

Forty two delegates from Hardin county with one half vote will attend the Democratic state convention in Des Moines on Saturday May 38. Earlier plans of 21 delegates and 21 alternates were changed after intense interest. County chairman Leonard E. Hoffman announced Hardin county has met and exceeded its quota to the State Democratic Central Committee. The quota was set at 1200.

Tornado damages farms near Union Friday afternoon
A funnel shaped cloud touched down on the John Kirk and Kenneth Speas farms near Union Friday causing extensive property damage. The Kirk place, about a quarter mile west of Union, lost two hog houses and a wooden hen house while trees were uprooted. The Speas barn sustained major damage and the house frame appears sprung as windows blew out. Neighbors observed a dust storm like wind as debris flew along Highway 215.

Tornado damages Union area farm and barn
Workers clean up after a tornado struck a farm north of Union. The storm entered the barn from the south, blew boards and shingles across the yard, and left debris in the pasture. Workers, including Johnson Went and Charley Ley, assist in the Saturday cleanup.
