Miss Arlene Pickett daughter of Mrs. Sadie Pickett of Radcliffe wed Stanford Matchie son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Meech of Union at Zion Lutheran Church on Sunday June 12 at 3 pm. The double ring service before 160 guests featured candlelight, orange blossoms, and peonies with Lohengrin’s Wedding March. The bridal party included Rosemary Meech and Jane Jacobson as bridesmaids, Cornette Sampson as maid of honor, Louis Williams best man, and ushers Carroll Espe and Walter Whorrall. The bride wore a white nylon net over satin gown with lace yoke and a fingertip veil, carried a tan bouquet of yellow roses and stephanotis. After vows, The Lord’s Prayer was sung and a reception followed. The bride, Radcliffe graduate from class of 746, has taught in a rural school. the groom, a former air force member in Japan, works on a Beaman area farm.

Julianne Eckel and Beverly Cordes excelled in grooming contests. Cordes named as delegate to the state 4 H girls convention in Ames June 21 24.
