Blind Quaker minister guides by touch and voice
NEW PROVIDENCE IA The Rev Guilford B Street 51 blind for years relies on voice recognition and handclasp feel to identify church members and household faces. He reads Braille at home from a 20 volume Bible and 10 volume Concordance, aided by wife Iva who reads current religious works aloud. He gardens, picks peas by feel and avoids windy days crossing streets. Street was born in Hesper Iowa and has served multiple churches before Honey Creek.
