Two to Iowa City For Polio Diagnosis
Hardin county's third polio patient of 1950 is Patricia Ann Klatt daughter of Mr and Mrs Chester Klatt of near Eldora. Taken to Iowa City Friday her case was diagnosed as non paralytic polio with no evidence of paralysis. David Finger six son of Mr and Mrs Elmer Finger of near Steam Boat Rock was taken to Iowa City Saturday afternoon for diagnosis but returned home doctors indicating that he did not have polio. David had definite signs of paralysis early Saturday but that condition had cleared up by 10 o'clock the same morning. The boy was reported in satisfactory condition Monday morning.

Providence Fetes Shives School Janitor 31 Years
Almost 200 persons attended a Friday evening farewell party at the gymnasium sponsored by the Board of Education for Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Shives as they leave the community. Shives has been janitor at the school for 31 years, with Arthur Church helping in later years and Lloyd Dooley to assist next year. County Superintendent M. Z. Albers praised their service. Loot Taken From Hambly Farm Home Reported
Loot valued at several hundred dollars taken from Carleton Hambly farm home between New Providence and Hubbard. Break-in occurred between 3 and 12 pm Saturday while Hambleys were away. Sheriff Hodgson lists stolen items including a Sunbeam mixer GE toaster 56 piece Rogers silverware a billfold cash and various foods. No arrests by Monday morning.

Eldora Chamber of Commerce announces Decorah Drum and Bugle Corps will perform on Kiddies Day, August 21. The boys aged 7 to 14 wear Scottish kilts, rehearse under US Army methods, and will parade and drill along with Washer City rides from Newton and a Terry Stilley directed pep band. Public to Inspect Cemetery Building at Eldora Open House
An open house for the Eldora cemetery workshop and office building will be held next Sunday from 2 to 5 PM and 7 PM onward. The public will be greeted by the Cemetery Society women who will provide punch and wafers. The hollow tile structure covers 1 by 32 feet for the shop and 10 by 12 feet for the office, with dual end doors for machinery, two restrooms, and frame gable roofing. Builders Pinky Dale, mason, Mike Priske, caretaker, and staff oversaw construction.

The Rock Island siding will receive hay and grain for cattle and sheep. A 120 by 20 by 32 foot shed houses a modern mixing plant with conveyors bins and automatic machinery. Hay and rolled corn move to a mixer then molasses added. Six five ton bins store finished feed for six hundred feet of side-by-side mangers. The operation aims for eight workers with Pat Patton directing stock and his son overseeing Garden City.
