Miss Glenn of Bangor formerly of Union was honored at a Thursday prenuptial shower in the Community church social room. Hostesses included numerous Union residents. Gifts, readings, games, and floral decorations accompanied refreshments. Attendees and visitors noted include twin sister Rachel Glenn and several Union guests.
The Ladies Aid society of the Community church met Wednesday afternoon in the social room with hostesses Mrs. Dora Warrington Mrs. Harry Stull Mrs. L. A. Norman and Mrs. W. H. Lepley. President Mrs. Grace Lawin presided as Rev. Wayne Sawtell conducted the devotional. The June finance committee reported adding 53.50 to the treasury. Following the business meeting Mrs. F. S. Schuler read an article from a news source.
Mrs Bruce Barnes led a reading at the church dedication once Congretational. She and Mrs Paul Glenney organized Bible games. The committee provided refreshments to attendees.
News from San Bernardino California reports that two Valley college instructors received gold keys and appeared on a public program honoring outstanding service to the college in the past year. A C Butterfield, former superintendent of the Union school, was one of the recipients and is identified as the brother of Mrs Bruce Barnes of Union.
The Kum Bac class of the Christian Sunday school met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Harley Lawrence's home. Fifteen members attended as Mrs. Ray Wirth presided and Mrs. Virgil Miller led the devotional. They planned a fried chicken supper for July 20 at the church and discussed August 2 a meeting with Mrs. Henry Hudspeth at Steamboat Rock. Refreshments were served.
