Eight Eldora Scouts depart Des Moines at 6 p.m. Wednesday July 20 for the fifth national Boy Scout Jamboree in Colorado Springs Colorado, arriving July 21. The group includes Stave Dagge Gary Seggerman Jody Kra mier Kent Barnard Steve Maraden Ike Rooks Bob Er hex and Ricky Barnard. They travel with scout leader Robert Smith from Newton. The garden sits half a tile east of the high bridge and includes owners from Union, Grundy Center, Whitten, New Providence, Hubbard, Owasa, Iowa Falls, Gifford, Steamboat Rock, Eldora, Conrad, and former Eldorans in Rock Island IL, Oceanside CA, and Central City IA. Over the year the area was graded, roads built with 600 tons of rock, seeded, fertilized, and features created including a 34 ton shrine to The Good Shepherd, meditation benches, underground lighting from 6 pm to 1:30 am, a 20-foot walkway to the shrine, 1,000 flowering plants, an aluminum tent for services, a new caretaker mower, and a purchased home for caretaker Howard Clingerman located west of the Gardens. Aluminum lot markers and a new east entrance were added, with selection days for lot buyers held July 10.

Eldora residents Phil Eggleston John Essig and Jeff Nolting are among seven Iowa boys considered for LOOK Student Thrift Plan scholarships. Awards of 500 300 and 200 dollars will be based on scholastic achievement with winners announced this month. The LOOK program began in Eldora last February and plans to expand with more entries from LOOK areas, with June 1961 presentations. The home office is in the LOOK Building Des Moines.

Leonard Names Son Partner in Eldora Abstract Firm
Frederick H. Leonard, 34, will become partner with his father J. D. Leonard at Hardin County Abstract Co. of Eldora about Sept 1 1960. A 1944 Eldora High graduate, he worked at Collins Radio Cedar Rapids after Towns University and served two years in the U S Armed Forces in World War II. He plans to move from Cedar Rapids, selling his home, with wife Donna and two children, Peggee and John. J. D. Leonard has run the business since 1919, aided by Mrs. Ralph Speers, moving offices in April from the Hardin County Savings Bank building to Schu macher. He has practiced abstract, real estate, and insurance work, and has been in real estate since 1943.

Record Crowd at Fourth Annual Fly-In Breakfast
A record crowd near 3,600 gathered at Eldora airfield for the fourth annual Fly-in Breakfast hosted by the Eldora Thunderbird Flying Club. Sunny weather helped draw 120 fly-in plates from Iowa and neighboring states, with over 300 Mying ate breakfast. Up to 2,000 pancakes and 75 pounds of sausage were served from 6:30 to 10:30 am as planes began arriving at 6:20 am, with S. D. Hanson among early arrivals.

Longenecker Funeral Home of Eldora for Mrs Harold Hauser who passed away Friday afternoon at a Fergus Falls Minnesota Hospital. Pallbearers were Ed Orgel W C Imes Birney Jackson Robert Dorhsbach and Frank Petty of Eldora and John Hanson of Union. Music was provided by Mrs Robert Lonnenecker at the organ. Mrs Hauser was born October 6 1892 at Eldora the daughter of William and Ottilie Oldenburg Smith. She was educated in Eldora and for 25 years was chief operator for the Central Iowa Telephone Company here. About 50 to 75 men watched from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The machine is not yet sold commercially and is still built by hand, with an estimated cost near 1500 dollars.
