Hoffman Named To Iowa Third District Democratic Post
Leonard Hoffman of Town Falls was named Saturday to the state Democratic central committee from the third Iowa district. He replaces Frank Downing who retired, was chosen at the Congressional district caucuses, opposed by George Laub. Re elected third district committeewoman was Mrs James C Dunbar. The selection means a new Harding county central committee chairman must be named as Hoffman cannot hold both posts. Two-Car Crash Near Iowa Falls Injures Four, 71 Plus
FourHardin county residents over 71 and Austinville man 78 were seriously hurt when Ernest Nehring 88 lost control of a 1980 Corvair on Highways 65 and 20 two miles north of Iowa Falls. His car veered into a northbound 1952 Buick driven by Reemi Harken 78. Nehring suffered facial injuries. Harken and three passengers, including his wife Ipipa 76, Fry Jansonius 78, and Jansonius sister Mary, sustained various injuries and were hospitalized at Iowa Falls hospital.

Monday funeral services were held for Mrs Elva G Welsh a longtime Eldora resident who died Friday at the local hospital at age 78. The Rev Donald Sterling officiated with Mrs Robert Lohgnecker at the organ. Burial was in Eldora Cemetery. Survivors include two brothers Karl D Greet of Sandpoint Idaho and Hal F Greet of Belvidere Illinois and two half brothers Charles H Greet Amarillo Texas and Robert J Greet Warrensburg Missouri.

Eldora city council and planning commission met with two engineering firms Rowat Murray Ft Dodge and Anderson Engineering Des Moines to receive bids for a city plan and zoning report. The Iowa Development Commission would contract with the low bidder and the city would finance 25 percent of costs with state and federal funds. Rural intersection numbering proposed for Har din county
Hardin County considers a county wide addressing system covering every rural intersection and farm house. The Hardin County Firemen's Association endorsed the plan at a courthouse meeting, pending county supervisors approval and potential inclusion in the 1081 budget. The system would cost about 86000 for survey installation and a county wide directory, with homeowners able to buy markers for 10 each. The program aids fire, police, ambulance, and visitors and is already in use in Linn Johnson Lucas and Scott counties with a fire guide prepared for each subscriber. About 25 people from 12 fire departments attended the meeting Thursday night.
