4-H and RYP to Continue International Farm Youth Exchange
Hardin county 4-H clubs and Rural Young People's organization will again take part in the international farm youth exchange program with other Iowa clubs. The state committee voted to continue the activity in 1950. During summer and fall 1949 seven European farm youths stayed with Iowa farm families and learned about American life and farming. Three Iowa youths will go to Finland, Sweden, and England. Norma Thorsbakken of Alden township, Hardin county 4-H girls president, received a letter from Donna Eichelberger of Muscatine urging continued support to foster international friendships through the exchange. Don Teachout of Shenandoah notes the program aims to bring European youths to the United States to learn our ways.
