A seventh outcome emerges from the St. Louis street car conflict as authorities, riders, and city planners weigh new changes. The item highlights ongoing contest over transit lines and public response to earlier clashes.
In St Louis on June 6 negotiations to settle the street car strike stalled after a mass meeting failed to act. Richard Mitchell the barber shot June 1 in the street car riot died today raising the death toll to seven from the labor troubles. Rudolf Granneman and Tony Getringer are held to answer. Sheriff Pohlmann struggles with his posse as ten more union men refuse service. The posse may increasingly consist of company sympathizers.
In Williamsport on June 6 William Hummel was hanged after a brutal crime. He walked to the gallows without aid, his body later embalmed and shown at the Wyoming Opera House. He had murdered his bride of one week and three young children.
The American Park and Outdoor Art association meets at the Art Institute in Chicago on June 6. The group, formed in Louisville in 1897, promotes conservation of natural scenery and public parks and reservations and outdoor art. Representatives from eighty five cities across twenty eight states and Canada attend, with about three hundred members.
Admiral Dewey and wife arrived in Columbus escorted by citizens. Mayor Swartz welcomed them at the Soldiers and Sailors Tent with a 17 gun salute. A barbecue, campfire visit, public reception at the Capitol, monster parade with Japanese fireworks, and banquet are on the program.
Indianapolis June 6 Keen was nominated for governor on the first ballot. The platform reaffirms the Chicago platform and instructs the delegation for Bryan. Jos H Franklin chief clerk in E P Thompson office and manager of the NM Fuel Co from Capitan is in town.
A call to prepare for the upcoming census asks residents to clip out a blank form and answer questions in writing so they have it ready when the enumerator visits.

Reports from Washington on a submarine boat trial in the bay show a mile under water and back. The craft now uses storage batteries and ballast improvements while navy drill intensifies though battleships Indiana Massachusetts and Kearsarge are for practice not battle. Separately Boxers burn Yang Ting station near Pekin and isolated missionaries are abandoned as their bodies are recovered after killings.
Washington reports the final session of the 56th Congress as both houses worked through the night. The antitrust bill stalled in the Senate while promotions for military officers and cadet enrollments were approved. The president and Cabinet arrived to sign belated bills as leaders push for early adjournment. Admission of time reflects ongoing session status with no immediate adjournment within the next hours.
Special dispatch reports the Gulf Shore railroad likely to extend 38 miles east to Cuero, forming a junction with the Aransas Pass and providing coast access. Both lines are Huntington property and the Gulf Shore currently loses money, making the extension feasible.

Chicago June 6 The policemen's monument in Haymarket Square will be moved to Union Park. Business leaders approve the change as it frees space and support bearing the removal cost. The statue memorializes officers killed in the anarchist riot.
Eddy Brothers left El Paso Monday evening for New York to promote a steel plant planned for Alamogordo. The project would cost over $100,000 and employ more than 400 locals plus eight in the mine and railroad, per the Alamogordo Banner.
