In a domestic tragedy reported by the local paper, a woman fatally shot her husband after he returned home intoxicated and allegedly abused her. The incident prompted police to detain the suspect for questioning while the investigation continues.
St Louis July 24. Michael Holl and a gasfitter came home drunk and assaulted his wife who fled. She returned with a pistol and killed her husband.
Bryan will meet national committee leaders in Chicago then proceed to Indianapolis by special train. John E. Pitts of the Commercial Traveling Men's association discussed the campaign here and boasted that 50,000 traveling salesmen were displaced by trusts in 1896 who will back Bryan.

J K Gabbart delivered 115 head of thoroughbred Durham and Hereford cattle from Yolo County California to H L Newman’s ranch located twenty three miles northeast of El Paso. The Newman ranch covers 250000 acres and is well stocked. Gabbart plans to depart tonight with a large herd of mules bound for Cuba.
