Juarez assists local business leaders in funding the Old City carnival by contributing 2500 dollars toward the subscription drive aimed at supporting carnival events and street activities.
Juarez businessmen agreed to raise 2500 dollars toward the midwinter carnival to be held in El Paso this winter. The international committee led by Felix Martinez secured the payment and plans will be pushed rapidly on this side of the river. The group includes Consuls Mallen and Kindrick, Mayors Onate and Magoffin, and other officials.
Kansas City market reports show cattle receipts at 9200 with steady to 10 higher, top native steers 5.35, westerns up to 5.06, Texas and Indian 4.40, cows and heifers to 4.75, stockers 3.25, stock cows 2.85 to 3.65. Hogs receipts 4000 up 5 to 10, top 5.27, bulk 5.15 to 5.25, light 5.10 to 5.24. Sheep receipts 2600 steady, lambs 3.40 to 5.75, natives 3.35 to 4.50, culls 1.00 to 3.00.
A vast El Paso land purchase north of the Southern Pacific tracks involves options held by W. E. Austin of Galveston. The deal is rumored to back a trunk line rail project to Guaymas, with potential Gulf of California port connections and yard development, drawing interest from several railroads.
