Edmonds City grandstand repairs delayed by council vote
Edmonds Public Works delays roof repair funding for the Civic Center Playfield grandstand after a $20,000 request is tabled for further study. About $4,000 to remove tar, $16,000 for half inch plywood over a warped roof, plus walls, siding, rafters, bleachers, and a paint job are needed to extend life for perhaps 40 more years.

Lions Club Gifts 2080 For Child Eye Prosthesis Fund
The Edmonds Lions Club donated 2080 to a trust for five month old Jeannee Zuehl of Mountlake Terrace who had eye surgery to remove a growth. At the Sept 27 meeting members approved funding a first artificial eye at about 600 with the rest kept at Rainier Bank for future replacements as she grows. Additional contributions from other Lions Clubs will add to the fund.

Construction starts soon on Snohomish County jail in Everett
Snohomish County announces a new seven story jail to ease over crowding. Construction should begin within two to three weeks with completion planned for November 1985. Absher Construction was disqualified for not meeting women owned subcontractor rules. Kiewit Contracting Co. of Seattle won the contract at 9.944 million dollars. The design features housing modules for up to 40 inmates per module, no barred cells, dedicated female housing, medical and psychiatric units, and an energy management system to reduce operating costs.
