Driftwood hobbyist finds beauty on Edmonds beach

Edmon ds area man Jim Butchart, a 59 year old former Teamster and dispatcher, turns driftwood and found objects into art. He creates larger decorative pieces from weathered beams and smaller sea scenes with ceramic gulls and glass floats. The hobby grew after job loss and may become a business, though for now it funds itself through craft shows. He and his wife Adah walk daily and enjoy a new appreciation for nature.
