Edmonds doctor bridges medicine and computing innovation
Dr Bruce Noonan of Edmonds blends ophthalmology and home computing to create a low cost computerized text magnifier for the visually impaired. The program runs on an Atari 64K system, enlarges and high-contrast displays text on a TV, and is used at Harborview, UC Davis Low Vision Clinic, and the Chicago VA. He also developed a cataract surgery calculator program marketed by Mind Mine Software and published a basic C article in Analog Computing.

Rabbits Found Living in Seattle School Basement
Two former classroom rabbits from a Seattle area school were moved to Lynnwood PAWS after neglect. The brown doe had babies. some died and others dehydrated. Surviving kits were euthanized. Locals in new program pairs mentors with newcomers
A state Beginning Teacher Assistance program teams seven District 15 veteran teachers with first year educators. About 100 teachers statewide participate. Mentors and beginners attend one workshop and log at least 36 hours observing and evaluating teaching situations.
