Fresno County investigators question Edmonds High School senior Cindi Mouat’s abduction tale. She initially claimed being taken February 16 from Seattle Northgate Mall to Fresno in a white Freightliner with “Joe and Jessie” on the side. She later said she hid at a Fresno shelter for three days, and FBI interviews cast doubt on key details as authorities seek corroboration.

Sound clean up bill praised by local officials for effort

Local officials say Senate Bill 4519 funds water quality projects with an eight cent cigarette tax. The measure, signed by Gov. Gardner, will spend 40 million a year in 1988 and 1989, then 45 million thereafter, with up to 50 percent for Puget Sound secondary treatment. Edmonds and Lynnwood seek aid by 1991 as grants fade.
