Edmonds author studies the ship Benjamin Sewall

Doug Egan of Edmonds spent a decade researching the windjammer Benjamin Sewall, the last and largest ship built by Pennell in Brunswick, Maine, lost in a 1903 China Sea typhoon. He chronicles Sewall's eight circumnavigations of Cape Horn and three of the Cape of Good Hope, plus his role as managing owner when abandoned. Egan, a former seaman and naval reserve commander, seeks missing years 1884-1888 and credits Sewall family ties for access to reminiscences and archives.
