The field includes Willis Tucker seeking re election county executive, with Iona Cridland, Pat McMahan, Brian Corcoran, Bruce Agnew, Steve Callender, Tina Scher among declared candidates and multiple incumbents aiming for new terms.
Lynnwood residents and Haviland Vintners weigh retail sales of promotional items at the Colony Park winery. The council asks the hearing examiner to decide if accessories like t shirts and wine glasses can be sold, stressing the IPBP zone limits. Neighbors fear setting a retail precedent and seek tighter language while the owner contemplates returning to the examiner.
Mark Schrader returns to Shilshole Marina on the Fourth of July as the first American to sail around the five great southern capes aboard Resourceful. He aims to raise 1.3 million for Victoria Village and Mountlake Terrace Child Center, with about 250,000 pledged so far. Schrader plans to fundraise via lectures and a possible book, after an odyssey that included Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope with seven stops and several long solo passages.
