Edmonds area to get HUD funded job creation grants
Five projects in South County will receive about 172000 dollars in federal money to create jobs during the recession. Edmonds will get 21559 for senior center waterproofing and 15112 for the Boys Club renovations plus 18000 for Meadowdale Community Club handicapped access. Lynnwood receives 50000 for a storm water pond. Mountlake Terrace 68000 for Bluebird Meadows drainage. county wide 91203 for stream rehabilitation employing 35 youths. Snohomish County overall has 1.1 million to distribute after 53 requests totaling 3.7 million. 23 projects funded and awaiting HUD review.

Landlord Tenant Act revisions allow double deposits refunds
Changes to the Landlord Tenant Act tighten deposit rules and add penalties. Snohomish County mediation director Mike Cummings says landlords must refund deposits within 14 days or risk losing any portion and may be liable to pay up to twice the deposit. The revisions require written contracts and an entry exit inspection report, clarifying non refundable fees and creating criminal penalties for malicious damage. A free July 19 seminar at the Lynnwood PUD Building will explain the changes.
