DOT rejects bid to delay openings of I-5 ramps

The state Department of Transportation refused a Terrace bid for a long delay in opening the new 220th Street S.W. ramps. Ramp openings remain tentatively set after two weeks past the July 21 completion, while city road work continues and traffic remains a bottleneck. City engineer Carl Rautenberg warned that opening ramps during 220th S.W. widening would cause severe backups onto I-5. DOT determined a three- or four-month delay was not feasible after review.
