City to lease three acres of beach from Unocal
Edmonds City Council approved last Tuesday an amendment to the 1982 contract with Unocal Oil Company to lease a three acre section of Marina Beach adjacent to Marina Beach Park. The city will pay about 3000 annually in property taxes and keep the beach largely in a natural state with a fence along the railroad tracks. Mayor Larry Naughton and Community Services Director Peter Hahn led the negotiations, praising Unocal.
