Olympic Ballet group shines with growth and Nutcracker expansion
Olympic Ballet Theatre expands from a private school to a growing nonprofit company serving North King and South Snohomish County. Directors John and Helen Wilkins drive technique and professional potential with annual productions, fundraisers, and tours including The Nutcracker and Peter and the Wolf with school performances and a planned 1989 PRBA festival in Edmonds.

The Arts United States brings dance excitement to 500 participants. Olympic Ballet aided Puget Sound Theatre with a lighting-board loan and supports a Cultural Arts Theatre for South Snohomish County. Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association Serves Local Youth
For over 20 years the Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association led by Jerry Smith provides programs for ages 5 to 19 in soccer, baseball, softball, basketball and football. About 1,200 youths enrolled with each sport having its own board. the group funds itself through membership, sponsorships and fundraisers and maintains city parks. A baseball field upgrade is planned, including two new backstops at Forest Crest Elementary. Membership is 25 dollars annually for insurance and uniforms. Approximately 30 adult volunteers contribute 40 hours weekly to run activities and keep kids engaged. For information contact Jerry Smith at 774-7335.
