Sea Vista project overruns prompt benefits plan debate
Examiner James Driscoll said cost overruns doubled the Sea Vista project but found no proven administrative mismanagement. A local consultant’s benefits assessment showed each property gained more than the $13,921 assessed value, with one property reduced to $6,000, angering owners who expected equal cost sharing. The $2,500 assessment was charged to the LID, and officials said benefits assessments may become common to defend court actions in the future.

Not Guilty Rape Defendant Claims Bias In Trial
The prosecutor urged common sense while the former UW football player Green argued he could not have been at the rape scene identifying a gray short sleeve sweatshirt he says he never owned. He claimed a suggestive lineup and biased reporting tainted the case. The judge allowed him to be sentenced to 10 years for the rape, with separate robbery and assault convictions pending in other states. The victim, a bank employee, remains traumatized and fearful, changing jobs and struggling with social relations. Green faces additional charges in Idaho and Utah.
