Pamela J. Woodroffes profile covers Kathy Greenberg who built a citizen advocacy group after a teen fatality and a near dragstrip problem. Greenberg blends activism with family life in Terrace.
Boeing accountant Fred Gucker began attending Edmonds School Board meetings to monitor school closures and now regularly analyzes district budgets. He advocates smaller class sizes and more classroom funding, saying one informed citizen can push boards to be more accountable while pursuing broader political awareness.
Five separate Edmonds home burglaries last week yielded stolen items including stereo equipment and a diamond stud earring from a 196th Street apartment, tapes necklace and pearl ring from another, a glass-cut window entry with silverware and electronics, and a Main Street entry with a video recorder and antique ship’s telegraph stand. Police note varied break in methods and no single suspect link.
Firefighters found about 20 gallons of unburned fuel in open containers around the buildings as neighbors recalled hearing explosions before dawn.
