Mariemont District Special Caucus Nominates District 4 Councilman

A special caucus to nominate a District 4 councilman will be held at Mariemont Middle School Room 202 on Tuesday December 6 at 7 30 p.m. Arthur J Davies left the seat to become mayor and John A Paine serves the remaining term ending December 31 1977. A candidate for a full term will be selected.

Mariemont residents weigh annexation of 21.6 acres

About two dozen Mariemont residents gathered November 21 to form Villagers for the Preservation of Mariemont VPM to study proposed annexation of 21.6 acres. They oppose traffic impacts and seek village rule over land use while discussing access routes and zoning controls with village officials.

Mayor illuminates Christmas tree in Mariemont square

Kiwanis Club of Mariemont lights the 25 foot spruce in the village square for the holiday season. Mayor Arthur Davies will turn on the lights with the High School Brass Ensemble performing and Santa Claus arriving by fire engine to hand out candy canes. The event includes a Dec 7 ceremony at 7 p.m. led by Kiwanis volunteers and Mariemont Fire Department staff.

City reviews Mott grant funds for Hyde Park and Mt Lookout

Hyde Park and Mt Lookout are among communities eligible for Mott Foundation assistance funds. Cincinnati division official Dennis Finney says funds will be distributed evenly, with the city receiving 600000 first year, 450000 second year, and 300000 third year for self help community projects initiated by residents. City staff review criteria and set internal stipulations for grants.
