The Sullivan residence in Hyde Park is part of Cincinnati Federated Garden Clubs 28th annual tour. Hyde Park Square elects new directors and hearcity manager talk

At the May 6 Hyde Park Square Business Assoc. meeting Jim Rice announced new directors to represent business and associate members. Names include Dick Bailey Dick Benton Jean Franz Russ Myers Don Good and Howard Schnebelt. City manager William Donaldson spoke on Cincinnati growth maintenance and a planned 22 year program to treat the water supply for organic chemicals.

Terrace Park Poised for State Purchase Backed Recreation Space

Terrace Park could gain 5 to 10 acres adjacent to the Little Miami River if the state buys the 122 acre Kuntz farm. Ohio Natural Resources Dept officials in Columbus assured resolution, with the land to be managed by the Hamilton County Park Board and possibly leased to Terrace Park for one dollar a year. Mayor Cadwallader quoted approval from county officials.

Terrace Park Considers Rules Over Skateboard Use

Officials worry over potential dangers as skateboarding resurfaces in streets and areas shared with vehicles. At the May council meeting leaders noted skateboard riding in motor areas and asked if boards qualify as vehicles and what rules may be needed.

Fairfax Bid Approved for New Cruiser at May Meeting

The Fairfax village council approved Williams Ford to supply a police cruiser for 5250 after evaluating four bids. The old car will be sold to Danny Chilton for 705. Health department notes show five animal bites and multiple calls, with total service cost cited as 12,000.

A tax levy for Cincinnati Public Schools will go to voters on Tuesday June 14. Voters must be registered by June 3. Campaign theme Keep the Schools Open. Mariemont Council Sets Street Seal Tenders and Safety Measures

Mariemont council approved 28 000 square yards of slurry seal on nine streets and accepted a public works report on cold planing about 1000 linear feet on Miami Road. The panel suggested stopping bushes over three feet, repainting a white stop bar on Flintpoint Way and promoting smoke alarm installation while delaying major railroad relocation actions.

Terrace Park to Toughen Trash Rules After Lax Setout

At the May council session residents were urged to bundle bag or box trash before curbside pickup. Officials warned of a crackdown if improper setouts persist and suggested placing items out the night before the scheduled pickup.

Parade to open Hyde Park School Festival

The Hyde Park School Festival parade will start at 10 30 a m Saturday May 21 from Peoples Junior High and travel Erie Ave to Hyde Park Square ending at the school for the 11 a m festival kickoff. Participants include the Peoples Junior High band antique cars the Revelettes drill team and more.

A public hearing will be held in Mariemont at 7 30 p m on Monday May 23 in the council chamber. Citizens may comment on the use of revenue sharing funds during the session.

GHPCC Plans Trustees Election and Meetings

Diane Swing of the GHPCC seeks nine trustees for the Greater Hyde Park Community Council with ballots to be mailed June 1 and returned by June 15. Candidates include Joan Herschede Roger Anderson Kevin Keefe David Stoffregen Sean Varland Noran Nolan Katie Ryder O Reilly Shaw Skillings and James Terry. A reception for the new Pram of Withrow Tom ynt is planned. The board also sponsors Hal Shoemaker for the Community Development Advisory Committee. Work sessions on June and an autumn meeting will be held as an action workshop led by Shaw Skillings.

ECHOEs announce business project dinner and foster care week
