Bridges Rebuilt and Roads Funded by County Board

County commissioners authorize convict labor to rebuild Mangum mill bridge and other spans. They reject high bids for Ene river bridge and order a wooden structure while planning eventual concrete replacements. Republican Convention to Nominate Bramham and Warren

The Durham County Republican Convention meets at the Court House tomorrow noon to place a full ticket in the field. Bramham is expected to secure the Legislature nomination while J B Warren is the preferred sheriff candidate. Other offices lack declared nominees but Republicans promise strong candidates. The campaign will begin in earnest next Saturday with Democrats confident of victory.

Trinity College Opens With Largest Freshman Class

The opening exercises featured a flag raising by the senior class and a gathering at the Duke building. Dr. John C. Kilgo addressed both old and new students. Matriculation occupied clerical staff throughout the day as students returned.

Death of Mr Bullock aged 55 after pneumonia

Mr Thomas H Bullock aged 55 died Wednesday night at 10 35 after a two week illness with pneumonia. He came to the town twelve years ago from Granville county and leaves a wife and eleven children. He has three brothers and many connections here and in Granville county. Funeral was held this morning from the Roxboro street home and the body shipped to Stems Granville county for interment

Joseph Lee Franklin died after months of illness at his Swift Creek Township home in Wake County. He was a Macedonia Methodist member, Cary High School graduate, Trinity College student, and junior when ill. Survived by parents B S and wife, two brothers Earl R. and Craven P., three sisters Minnie L May Belle and Bessie W. Funeral held at Macedonia Church Monday at 3 PM.

Briggs Nominated by Fourth District Republicans for Congress

In Raleigh North Carolina on September the fourth district Republican convention adjourned after a brief executive session nominating Willis G Briggs postmaster as the candidate to oppose Congressman Edward W Pou.
