Veteran of Civil War Passes Away at Camp Creek Church
W. M. B. reports a Civil War veteran who served in the 50th North Carolina and fought with General Lee at Appomattox, died September 10 1908 after a lifetime of Christian service. He married Miss J M Blalock in 1866, leaving seven children and a second wife. Burial followed at Camp Creek church.

Death of a Child in Durham Family Wheeler
Lawrence Wheeler, four months old, died Saturday night at 10 30 at the Mangum street home of Mr and Mrs W L Wheeler. The funeral was held Sunday. News from New York reports the death of Mrs Emma Walker Bagwell, formerly of Durham. Her remains were brought to Durham and interred at Maplewood Cemetery.

The ceremony surprised relatives and friends. a few intimate friends witnessed it. Mrs. Gattis ran a boarding house on Rigsbee avenue and is well known in Durham.
