Several Sunday Marriages in Durham and Greensboro

On Sunday in Durham and Greensboro several couples wed. Miss Mamie Rigsbee wed Henry Overman at Justice Morton’s home amid family opposition. Maude N. Loughlin and William W. Dickerson, Greensboro residents, were married at a mutual friend’s East Durham home with J. T. Morton officiating.

Close call with gas saves Clifton Craig at Five Points Pressing Club

Clifton Craig nearly died from a gas leak in a toilet room at the Five Points Pressing Club. A companion, Mr. Pendergraph, found him unconscious and pulled him to safety as Dr. Bitting treated him. Craig remained weak but alive, with memory hazy about the event. The near tragedy occurred last week in East Durham.

Viola Holloway Weds William S Hunt Near Bahama

At the home of Kinch Holloway near Bahama on Sunday afternoon Miss Viola Holloway became the bride of William S Hunt in a ceremony witnessed by many friends. The couple are well known in the county’s northern part where they grew up.

Durham Man Garrett Drowned After Wagon Trouble

W. T. Garrett known as Bill Garrett of Durham was found dead beside a road in a small water-filled hole with his wagon and a blind horse nearby. Report states he was intoxicated earlier, died in an apparent accident with no inquest held. wife and two children survive as relatives mourn.
