Mrs Mildred Nichols Dies In Durham At 68

Mrs Mildred C Nichols wife of Luke Nichols died at her home corner Roxboro and Dowd streets Friday evening at six after grippes and pleurisy. She was 68 and had lived in Durham for years, previously in Orange county. Survived by husband two sons D. D Nichols and J W Nichols and two daughters Sallie and Y F Nichols. N W Nichols lives in Spokane Washington. She was a member of Mangum Street Methodist church and known for a Christian life. The family has endured multiple deaths recently.

Robbery Attempt Targets Proctor and Matthews Store Owner

Last Saturday night Sam Berman a Hebrew shopkeeper on the corner of Proctor and Matthews streets was assaulted by an unknown Negro while en route to Pine Street. He received a scalp wound on the right side about four inches long. the assailant fled. Officers started a search and a physician treated Berman who was expected to recover.

Dezern Faces Six Whiskey Cases in West Durham

Four More Cases state W A Dezern arrested in West Durham for selling whiskey at his store. Bindings to court include one old man and two boys in two cases each. Another man was issued last Friday for arrest. Testimony shows others bought whiskey from Dezern, bound over to court in a $50 bond in three cases, totaling six cases against Dezern.
