South Lowell notes spring arriving with verse and community updates. Local households, dances, illness, school changes, and Sunday events fill the column, with reminders about safety around horses and a call for peaceful district consolidation discussions.
Last Sunday at 9:30 Ada Garrard married Sol vester at D S Garrard Esquire with Rev John Carden officiating. The brief notice wishes the couple happiness and notes a near fatal horse kick to Tommie Cates that momentarily threatened his life.
In Rougemont on Route 3 March brings sun and rain with Miss Sarah Gray still very ill. Friends wish her a speedy recovery while Miss Mary Russel closes her New Bethel school. Claud Gray visits Thomas Roberts, who died of heart trouble leaving a wife and ten children. The Poplar Grove school will close March 15 with commencement exercises.
The community reports ongoing illness with many convalescing. Aged citizen John W Barbee died of heart trouble and was laid to rest near East Durham after funeral by Rev. G W Fisher. Lewis Walker died of pneumonia. families in Bilboa and nearby areas note visits and recoveries.
