Mrs. Lora Jacobs, wife of R. E. Jacobs, died at her Dale Street home Saturday at 5 47 in Edgemont after a long illness. Funeral from Edgemont Baptist Church Sunday at 2 pm with Rev G H Church and Rev C J Thompson officiating. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery. She was 22 and leaves husband, four sisters, one brother, and many friends.

Narrow Escape at Golden It Manufacturing Plant
Charley Davis, age unknown, narrowly escaped serious injury at the Golden It Manufacturing Company last Friday afternoon. His clothing became entangled in machinery and he was thrown, breaking an arm and sustaining multiple bruises. He was carried away for treatment as the workers assisted.

Death of Dr. T K Bruner long service to North Carolina ends
Thomas Kincaid Bruner, 52, longtime Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, died leaving a public tribute as a valuable state asset. Born in Salisbury to J J Burner and Kincaid Burner, he helped build the states mineral resources and led exhibits in Boston Atlanta and New Orleans in the 1880s era before succeeding Peter M Wilson over twenty one years ago.

Whiskey violator returned to Durham to bid friends goodbye
George Smith was convicted of retailing whiskey in Durham Superior Court and sent to the county roads for six months. Judge Webb later released him on condition he leave the county. He left but returned to Durham, was arrested by federal authorities, sentenced to twelve months in Atlanta prison, then released with order to leave the state within thirty days. He later headed to Georgia but tried to visit Durham again. Sheriff Harvard arrested him and he is sent to the chain gang to serve the original sentence. He is infamous for planning to resume whiskey sales with remarks about past customers and departures to Raleigh to start anew.

Death of R. E. Watson in Edgemont
R. E. Watson died after a brief pneumonia illness at his father’s home in Edgemont last Monday morning. He leaves a father and mother, two brothers, and three sisters. The body was taken to Orange County for interment. Rev. H. Benmosche resigns from the Durham Hebrew congregation and will move to Norfolk.
