Marriage witnessed by Jos A Harris J P unites Thomas S Featherly of Person county and Martha A Wheeley of Orange county at the residence of J J Murray on February 6 1908. The Freeland family plans to reside in Spencer N C. A tragic fire claim kills three year old Ida Cates and injures a sibling near Hillsboro, with ongoing concern for the family.
Mr. Roberson and Mrs. A Roberson with daughters Miss Emma and Mrs. Helen Minor from Indianapolis are visiting relatives near Redwood. He is Mrs. John P Robersons brother, has been away sixteen years, and returns after years without contact. He is sixty and in good health.
Mrs M A Monk of East Main Edgemont received a letter from her son Claud in Lynchburg Virginia saying his wife is very ill. Mrs Monk left Wednesday morning to go to her bedside.
At a creditors meeting W J Griswold was chosen receiver for the New York Stock company tied to M Bane chief stockholder. He posted a 10000 bond and the firm shut down January 18 with stock about 16000 and liabilities 24000. Winston Bryant named attorneys. An inventory will start now and goods will be marketed when complete.
The body of Edward J. Rigsbee third year medical student at the university medical school Raleigh passed through Durham yesterday afternoon en route to Chapel Hill. At the station the medical school and friends met the body and escorted it to his home where he was buried yesterday. He was twenty three and would have finished medicine in a year. He was popular at the university. Death followed ten days of pneumonia.
Mr. T. Fowler, an old Confederate soldier, died yesterday morning at 11 o clock at the soldiers home in Raleigh. The body was brought to the home of Mrs. Joe Cates on West Main Street. The funeral was held this afternoon with Rev. M. Bradshaw of the Methodist church conducting services. Interment followed at Maplewood Cemetery. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Cates and Miss Better Fowler of Durham.
The Washington Duke statue was placed on the Trinity campus yesterday in the Annie Roney plot. It remains covered until commencement for unveiling ceremonies. Many have seen the memorial and praised it as fine work.
Mrs. I M Reams learned her brother Captain I C Howard died yesterday morning in Atlanta. The message gave no further information though Captain Howard had been in Durham and known by a few locals. ITCH cured in 30 minutes by Woolford's Sanitary Lotion sold by Hackney Druggists.
