Man Dies After Drinking Corn Whiskey In Hay Wagon

James Redmond of Durham dies six miles west of the city after consuming two pints of corn whiskey in a hay wagon. Jasper Mayes, a 16 year old witness, describes Redmond entering a fit and dying within an hour. Remains brought to Durham for interment. Redmond was the eldest son of W. T. Redmond.

Jack Barker Captured in Northern County Liquor Raid

Revenue officers raided a large still near the Durham and Orange county lines discovering beer and whiskey in full operation. Jack Barker was captured while five men fled. the setup included a 25 gallon keg of whiskey and extensive equipment, with Barker facing multiple liquor and robbery charges.
