Creedmoor Board to Seek Bonds for New School Building

A bill supported by General B. S. Royster lets the Creedmoor County Board submit to the Bur a proposition to issue 6000 dollars in bonds for a school building. The plan funds 3000 through the State Board of Education at 4 percent and raises 2000 by hypothecation. Taxes would total 475 dollars yearly for ten years plus interest.

Killed By Falling Tree In North Carolina Timbering

Thomas R. Blalock of Rougemont was instantly killed Friday morning when a pine tree fell, pinning him as four men worked in Mack Lawson woods. The 38 year old farmer left a wife, father Haston Blalock, a brother and four sisters. The elder of Primitive Baptist church conducted the funeral near the Granville county line.

Negro boy injured by freight train near University Station

A 13 year old colored boy named Draghn was badly hurt when a freight train ran over part of his right foot. He says a brakeman charged a fare and kicked him from the car. railroad workers deny the incident and blame the boy for slipping under the moving train. He was taken to Lincoln hospital for amputation of part of the foot.

Filthy Home Case Sends Family to County Home

Justice Owens visited a West Durham residence and found Anna Strayhorn and her son Arch living in squalor with nine dogs and six chickens. A mattress served as a day and night bed in a single room. The mother and son were placed in the county home after persuasion, the dogs were sold or given away, and the chickens disposed of.

Twenty Six Defendants in City Court Session

The mayor presided over a crowded Monday court with twenty six cases called. Twelve cases were sent to the May term of Durham superior court.
